A shutter's listed width and height do not always describe the window or door it fits. Before buying from this catalog, check whether the listing gives finished shutter dimensions or opening measurements. The difference can include tracks, overlap, a housing or other parts of the system.

Read these three details before comparing prices

1. Finished size: the dimensions stated for the supplied shutter or panel assembly.
2. Opening fit: the window or door opening described in the listing.
3. Included configuration: the material, operation, tracks and other components covered by that product price.

For example, the accordion shutter for a 28-inch by 83-inch door opening identifies an opening fit. Do not treat another product's finished dimensions as the same kind of measurement. A larger listed number does not automatically mean a larger protected opening.

Why each shutter type needs a different fit check

Accordion shutters need track and stacking space beside the opening. Rolling shutters need room for the housing above and rails beside it. Removable storm panels depend on the specified overlap and attachment arrangement. Fabric systems also need their approved coverage and anchors. There is no universal deduction that works across all these products.

For Bahama and Colonial styles, compare the exact impact-rated or decorative non-impact model. Similar-looking shutters can have different purposes, hardware and approval requirements. Decorative shutters are not substitutes for approved storm protection.
